Craig Harris' God's Trombones returns to Harlem with an
inspiring new production at the magnificent Harlem Stage
Gatehouse after last spring's triumph at the Apollo
Theater. This music theater interpretation, created by
acclaimed trombonist and composer Craig Harris, and
directed by Avery Brooks, features four singers, a brass
shout choir and a dancer. Harris' work animates and
invigorates James Weldon Johnson's 1927 classic collection
of poems based on inspirational sermons by itinerant
African-American preachers.
