Max Pollak & Rumba Tap

Nordic myth and African hero-spirits meet and embark on a journey of groove. Inspired by Afro-Cuban folklore and the ancient Finnish epic "The Kalevala", Viis, expressed through tap dance, live music and improvisation, explores the universal story of creation, greed, chaos, and hope. Concept and choreography by Max Pollak in collaboration with Chikako Iwohori. Original music by Max Pollak and Paul Carlon.

The 21 and 22 are a full evening performance, and the 19 is a shorter gala type performance with a reception and meet and greet afterwards. NEW CIRQUE DU SOLEIL PRODUCTION- URGENT CASTING CALL!

Cirque du Soleil is urgently seeking male and female contemporary dancers for a new production in Macau. Dancers from any and all contemporary dance backgrounds; Forsythe/ Kylian-style movement qualities, an asset; 18 years and up.

Submission instructions: Send your complete file, including: Your resumé with complete contact information, languages spoken and written, nationality, date of birth, weight, height, as well as special abilities; One or more photographs; One or more excerpts of the following elements filmed in studio and/or on stage in the past year (for a total of 5 to 15 minutes of video images):

a) One-minute presentation to the camera, including your name, nationality, experience, and the reasons for your interest in Cirque du Soleil.
b) Contemporary dance choreography demonstrating your technical and artistic skills.
c) A contemporary improvisation.
d) If applicable, other style(s) of dance and relevant abilities (examples: folk dance, gumboot, gymnastics, singing, circus arts, etc.).

Two year contract with annual renewal option.

Upcoming New York City Bootcamp: Saturday, April 21, 2007

Due to the overwhelming success of the national VLA Legal and Business
Bootcamp for Arts Professionals program, VLA is offering an additional
Bootcamp in New York City on Saturday, April 21, 2007, from 10:00am to
6:00pm. Led by veteran arts and entertainment attorneys, this program
covers all the essential legal and business issues you need to know,
plus, behind the scenes information as only these industry insiders can
provide.

VLA members may attend the program at a discounted rate (as low as
$50 for artists) for a full day of intensive programming and networking
