ATDF Classes for Adults!

The American Tap Dance Foundation offers Tap Classes for
Teens &
Adults for all levels. Classes have begun! See below for
details.
Brenda Bufalino teaches Int/Adv Workshop
Tap Technique & Repertory


Class will focus on: Building technique, tone, texture
speed and
clarity. Developing material in a variety of modes...swing,
bop,
latin...Musicality...learning words and melodies of
standards and
blues heads. Improvisation...improvising in multiple modes.
Conscious
improvisation leading to spontaneous composition. Trading
fours,
eights, and whole choruses. Simultaneous and collective
group
improvisation. Repertory...Ms. Bufalino will teach new
original
repertory, as well as repertory created for the American
Tap Dance
Orchestra which was founded in 1986 by master tap dancers
Brenda
Bufalino, Tony Waag, and the late Charles 'Honi' Coles.
From 1986
through 1999, the Orchestra performed in hundreds of
concert, stage,
and film projects and thrilled audiences around the world.

When:
Two 4-week workshops:
Sept. 26, Oct. 3, Oct. 10, Oct. 17
& Nov. 28, Dec. 5, Dec. 12, Dec. 19
Wednesdays 12:00 - 2:00 pm

How Much:
$30/single class
$210 for all 8 classes

Susan Hebach teaches Fast Beginning Tap
Some experience required - Ages 13+

Students should know all the basics (such as: flaps,
shuffles, cramp
rolls, etc) and be able to put together basic technique
steps within
short combinations. Emphasis will be on developing
combinations,
learning a variety of time steps, and developing simple
choreography.
Class will feature a variety of jazz music.

When:
Sept. 20th, 2007 - June 2008
Thursdays 6:00 - 7:00 pm

Chelsea Studios

How much:
$15 per single class
$104 for 8 classes
Courtney Runft teaches Intro to Tap
Little to no experience required - Ages 13+

Students will focus on developing basic tap techique in an
encouraging
and supportive environment. Students will drill basic tap
vocabulary
and put together short, simple combinations. Class will
feature a
variety of jazz music.

When:
Oct. 7th, 2007 - June 2008.
Sundays 2:00 - 3:00 pm

Where:
Chelsea Studios
151 W. 26th St. 5th or 6th Fl.
between 6th & 7th Ave.

How much:
$15 per single class
$104 for 8 classes

Repertory VI & Composition


Open to advanced teens & adults by audition/invitation
only.

The class goals and objectives are to:

explore various approaches to creating choreography
develop a "tool box" of skills and concepts that apply in
the creative process
learn how to work with a musician to create a unique
arrangement for a piece
develop a class/group piece, and small group and solo
pieces for
casual and formal presentation
explore various choreographers by analyzing a variety of
their works
through video and outside events

Class meets Wednesdays 5:00 - 6:30 at Chelsea Studios.
Class is not
drop in. Students must commit through the end of the first
session.
