JUBA! in China

JUBA! in China
December 21-23, 2007

CHRP is just one day and 6,000 miles from Beijing!

For those of you who don't yet know, CHRP is leading the
largest-ever presentation of tap in China with 50 U.S. tap
artists and seven jazz musicians from Columbia College
Chicago in the five closing performances of the month-long
Festival, which culminates Dec. 21-23 at the 2,900-seat
Beijing Exhibition Theater (see picture above).

CHRP's program, "JUBA! Masters of American Tap," will
present a who's who of American tap, including legend
Harold "Stumpy" Cromer; masters Sam Weber and CHRP Founder
and Artistic Director Lane Alexander; brilliant next
generation artists Tre Dumas, Jason Samuels Smith and
Dormeshia Sumbry-Edwards; CHRP's performing ensemble BAM!;
guest artists from around the U.S.; and six of our finest
youth tap ensembles, including North Carolina Youth Tap
Ensemble, Keane Sense of Rhythm, Tappers with Attitude,
Footprints Tap Ensemble, Sole 2 Souls Dance Company, and
Rhythm and Percussion in Motion

Most importantly, these performances are only a part of a
larger cultural exchange between Chicago and China that
will span 5 years and influence all of CHRP's programming
in the years to come.
