News from CHRP

Barbatuques and Global Rhythms 4

Group BarbatuquesDon't miss the North American debut of Barbatuques at
the Harris Theater, Nov. 28-30. This extraordinary Brazilian "body
band" has created a new "sound" unlike ANYTHING you have ever seen or
heard. Barbatuques' nine-day Chicago residency will also include two
preview performances: Saturday, November 22 at the International House
at the University of Chicago and Wednesday, November 26 as part of the
Old Town School of Folk Music's "World Music Wednesdays" series.

Barbatuques for KIDS!
Urban Gateways is partnering with CHRP to present a special
lecture/demonstration for almost 1000 K-12 students Tuesday, November
25 at the Harris Theater. The Old Town School of Folk Music will
present Barbatuques as one of their field trip artists, Wednesday,
November 26.

Barbatuques Goes West!
After Global Rhythms, the group will travel to Oakland, CA for a week
of exciting events with Crosspulse. By working with our peers around
Chicago and the United States, CHRP continues to build a larger
audience for tap and contemporary percussive arts . . . the beat goes
on!

Barbatuques and Thanks-4-Giving
As a part of Global Rhythms, CHRP partners with over 50 non-profits
from throughout Chicago. Groups like the Brazilian Cultural Center,
the Chicago Food Depository, Book Worm Angels and the International
Latino Cultural Center of Chicago will send their patrons to the show
and receive 50% of every ticket that their supporters purchase! It's
another way Chicago Human Rhythm Project builds community with rhythm.

We encourage you to tell your favorite non-profit organization about
this program. With a national decrease in charitable giving in 2008,
this program is a simple way for any non-profit to raise money! They
simply need to call 773-281-1825 and ask for the Community Development
Manager.
