Tap City 2007 is July 7 - 14 and registration will begin on April 1st. Check out this sneak-preview of our tap dance summer intensives for kids and teens: our newly designed Youth Program and the return of our popular Pre-Professional Program.

Tap City 2007 Youth Program, July 7 - 10, 2007 is for intermediate and advanced tap dancers ages 9 - 14. Our newly designed program offers young dancers a fun, supportive and challenging environment to develop well-rounded tap skills.

YOUTH PROGRAM OVERVIEW:
Students will work each morning learning and polishing a piece of tap repertory. The first morning of the program will begin with a placement class led by the choreographers. Students will be placed in one of three groups based on skill level. Each afternoon, after a supervised lunch-break, students will take special Master Classes in Bucket Drumming, Classic Tap, and Tap Films & History. The program ends on Tuesday evening with the Youth Showcase, when dancers perform their newly learned tap piece for family, faculty and fellow students.

Pre-Professional Program OUR 3RD HIT YEAR!
The Pre-Professional Program, July 7 - 11, is designed especially for advanced young adults (ages 14 - 19). Selected by audition, students will work intensively with either Michelle Dorrance or Derick K. Grant, two of tap's hottest and most innovative young choreographers. The all-inclusive program focuses on developing well-rounded tap skills in a professional environment that stresses self-discipline and excellence. Dancers will work each morning on the preparation of two new pieces of choreography that will be performed on Wednesday evening in the Tap Youth/Tap Future performances at the Duke on 42nd Street theater.

PRE-PROFESSIONAL PROGRAM OVERVIEW
Each day begins with an intensive rehearsal experience in which you'll work with other advanced dancers in the development of new choreography. Lunch times include time for socializing and panel discussions on Career Options for Tap Dancers and Tap History. A different master class is offered Saturday through Tuesday. Wednesday is set aside for tech rehearsals at the Duke on 42nd Street theater for the Tap Youth/Tap Future performances at 7:00 and 9:30.
